Research In Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
This articles looks at the statistics and research with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, and discusses its implications.
Many women suffer from misdiagnoses? and years of pain, which they soon discover after a bit of research, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is responsible for. PID is an inflammation and infection in the woman?s reproductive organs, including the uterus, fallopian tubes (which carry the eggs from the ovary to the uterus), and/or the ovaries as well as any other organs that are related to reproduction.
The organs can become scarred, resulting in infertility, chronic pelvic pain, abscesses, ectopic pregnancy and other serious health concerns. Because of the prevalence of the disease and the consequences to women researchers continue to look for ways to improve the treatment protocols.
It has been said that PID is the most common cause of infertility in the United States, which could have been treated. Canadian statistics show that it is likely that one in 10 women will actually have at least one case of PID in their lives. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia are 2 of the most common causes of the disease, although there are other bacteria which can be responsible.
Women who are at the most risk for PID are those who are also at risk for sexually transmitted infections, as well as those who have already had an episode with PID. Women under the age of 25 who are sexually active are more susceptible due to the cervix, (which is the opening to the uterus), of teens and young women being more at risk of sexually transmitted infections. It is believed that their cervixes are not fully matured, which puts them at more risk of infection.

Antibiotic treatment for Bronchitis
Proper medication is important in curing an illness, but it is also essential to use a reliable source of these medications, like your trusted physician. Antibiotics are medications that slow or stop the growth of bacteria. Prescriptions of antibiotics depends on what kind of infections causes your illness, like in the case of bronchitis there are specific antibiotics for this condition depending on the severity and status of the illness.
Bronchitis is a respiratory illness where in the lining of the bronchial tubes is inflamed. The condition may be acute bronchitis which is most often caused by viruses and bacteria and lasts for only a short period of time. Bronchitis may also be chronic in nature where there is too much mucus secretion and a productive cough which is mainly caused by smoking or infectious agents and lasts much longer from several months to years.
Antibiotics for bronchitis are prescribed by doctors, but in many cases the condition does not benefit from antibiotics. Because acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses most doctors do not prescribe antibiotics. Their effectiveness with acute bronchitis is so small compared to the side-effects that these antibiotics may bring. Most common side effects are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, sore mouth, skin rashes, headache, sunburn easily and vaginal yeast infection.
The increase and improper used of antibiotics may also lead to antibiotic resistance in which the bacteria may mutate in ways so they will be able to survive in spite of medications; that means the antibiotics may not work on the next time that it is used. And since most antibiotics are expensive, costs may not be worth the benefits. Acute bronchitis usually clears up on its own in two to three weeks just by drinking lots of fluids and getting enough rest.

What is Bipolar Disorder?
This article goes through the defintion and classification of Bipolar Disorder, hoping to clear any mis-understanding about this more commonly seen mental health issue.
Bipolar disorder, formerly known as manic depression, is a catch all term for a mood disorder with symptoms noted as episodes of mood swings. These mood swings range from mania, an abnormal elevation in mood, to depression, an extreme drop in mood.
There can also be a cycling of both of these two states of mind. It should also be noted that individuals with bipolar disorder have a normal period of their state of mind in between these two mood shifts.
The manic side of the mood produces psychosis at times, with such symptoms as hallucinations and/or delusional behavior. Manic depressive illness was first noted and named in the late 19th century. More recently psychologists renamed it bipolar disorder to remove some of the social stigma associated with the name of the illness and the depression associated with it.
Bipolar disorder most commonly develops in young adults. It is diagnosed by reported symptoms by the patient and careful observation of their behavioral patterns.

Discharge and pelvic inflammatory disease
This article takes a closer look at the significance of the vaginal discharge associated with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a condition that affects the reproductive system in a woman. After a bacterial infection manages to breach the cervical barrier and reach the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries a woman will begin to experience several symptoms.
In some cases women don?t have any early symptoms of the infection while in other cases they are overwhelmed by the discomfort and pain. Each case is individual and varies from person to person. The infection can be cured with antibiotics, become recurrent or chronic if it isn?t eradicated from the woman?s system or can create long-term problems with infertility secondary to the scarring in the organ systems.
Some of the symptoms that women experience include pain and increased cramping with menstruation, pain with urination, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, pain with intercourse or bleeding after intercourse. Women can also experience vaginal discharge during the entire month with PID.

Neck curves and Headaches
You may not think about it as we do, but the natural curves that occur in the four different regions of your spinal column help to balance your body and prevent injury. The curve that should be present in the upper part of the spinal column, called the cervical spine, is a lordodic curve. When viewed from the side, this is a forward curve.
Birds have a “S” shaped curve in their cervical spine permitting even greater range of motion than our “C” shaped curve.
Injury or uncorrected trauma can cause the cervical spine to straighten and lose this vital lordodic curve. This is known as cervical kyphosis and can progress to the point where a reverse curve is formed. Even a slight reduction in the normal lordodic curvature can produce subtle or more obvious health problems.
The causes of cervical kyphosis can include:
- Degenerative disc disease
- Congenital Kyphosis that appears at birth
- Trauma, such as whiplash from an auto accident
- Injury from a medical procedure
Symptoms can range in severity from mild discomfort and headaches, to decreased range of motion in the neck and in the most severe cases, paralysis.
Neck pain may be common, but it’s not normal. If you’re experiencing any type of neck pain, please call our office to schedule a thorough examination. Chiropractors are specially trained to locate abnormalities in the spinal column and quite successful in restoring proper spinal curves. We’d love to help you or someone you know.

After Gastric Bypass Surgery Diet - Lifelong Changes
The changes in your digestive system restrict how much you can eat and drink with each meal. To avoid problems and to ensure you’re getting nutrients you need, closely follow these guidelines:
Eat small amounts.
Just after surgery, your stomach holds only about 1 ounce of food. Though your stomach stretches over time to hold more food, by the end of three months, you may be able to eat 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food with each meal. Eating too much food not only adds more calories than you need but also may cause pain, nausea and vomiting. Make sure you eat only the recommended amounts and stop eating before you feel full.
Eat and drink slowly.
Eating or drinking too quickly may cause dumping syndrome — when foods and liquids enter your small intestine rapidly and in larger amounts than normal, causing nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and sweating. To prevent dumping syndrome, choose foods and liquids low in fat and sugar, eat and drink slowly, and wait 30 minutes before or after each meal to drink liquids. Take at least 30 minutes to eat your meals and 30 to 60 minutes to drink 1 cup of liquid. Avoid foods high in fat and sugar, such as regular soda, candy and candy bars, and ice cream.

What causes the Pain in Headaches?
It’s back again ~ that all too familiar throbbing pain in your head. Do you know what actually causes your headaches?Spinal misalignments in the neck are a common cause of many types of headaches.
The pain you feel when you have a headache is not located in your brain, even though it feels that way. The pain is actually sensed by nerve endings located in your head and neck. Many types of events, inside and outside of your body, serve as “triggers” that can bring on a headache. Knowing what most often triggers your headaches can help you avoid them.
The most common triggers are emotional (stress, anger, anxiety), food-related (processed foods such as cold cuts, alcohol, nuts, and dairy products), hormonal (birth control pills, menstruation, menopause), environmental (noise, air travel, changes in temperature/humidity), or physiological (illness, skipping a meal, overtiredness).
A study, conducted by Dr. Eisenberg at Harvard University, reported that chiropractors are the most common alternative health provider consulted for headache pain. Chiropractors are trained to locate and correct misalignments in the vertebrae in the upper spine and neck. These misalignments put pressure on adjacent nerves ~ pressure that can cause your headaches.
So, instead of reaching for the headaches pills the next time you feel a headache coming on, call your Chiropractor and have your spine checked instead!

Diagnosis of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
This artilce examines the common symptoms experienced with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, and the risk asscoaited with a failure to diagnose.
Pelvic Inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection that occurs in the female reproductive tract and is usually caused by a bacterial infection. Women experience symptoms such as nausea, fever, pain on urination, painful menstruation, pain on intercourse, heavy periods or bleeding after intercourse.
PID isn?t diagnosed solely by symptoms alone however. This is because most of the symptoms are also symptoms of other conditions. For instance, nausea, fever, pain on urination and urethritis are all symptoms of both PID and a urinary tract infection.
The symptoms of PID can also mimic genital herpes, vaginitis, endometriosis, fibroids, dyspareunia, cervicitis, acute appendicitis and ovarian cysts. Women and doctors must be diligent in their efforts to determine the exact cause of the symptoms so that other more immediate problems may be addressed (acute appendicitis) and not overlooked.

Lasik Eye Surgery
Lasik eye surgery is a surgical procedure that can correct a person’s vision. When an individual has Lasik surgery they will no longer have to depend on glasses or contact lenses.
The cornea of the eye is responsible for projecting light onto the retina to produce an image. When the cornea of the eye is not shaped perfectly, then distortion of the image will occur. This is called a refractive error. Lasik eye surgery can correct a refractive error.
There are three primary types of refractive errors. Myopia is a refractive error in which a person has trouble seeing things at a distance but they can see things close up. Hyperopia is when a person will be able to see things clearly at a distance but cannot see things that are close to them. Astigmatism is a distortion of an image that is caused by irregularities in the cornea or lens of the eye.
Lasik eye surgery is also called refractive surgery because it will reshape the shape of the cornea, therefore improving the focusing power. But keep in mind that not everyone is a good candidate for Lasik eye surgery.
To be a good candidate for Lasik eye surgery, you have to be willing to accepts the risks that go along with this type of surgery. Your eyesight should be stable, meaning your eyeglass prescription has not changed much over the past several years. You should not have any health conditions that would put you a risk if you have Lasik eye surgery.
